Industrial-Grade Tungsten Carbide Pin Gauges

What is a tungsten carbide pin gauge?

In production lines that require high-intensity and high-volume inspection, the wear resistance of gauges directly determines quality control costs and product consistency.

Mihe Precision (MISHUTE) Tungsten Carbide Pin Gauges are made from selected ultra-fine grain cemented carbide, specifically designed to solve the “dimensional drift” problem of traditional white steel pin gauges caused by frequent friction.

Tungsten carbide is known for its extremely high hardness and rigidity. Even when passing through metal workpiece bores over long periods and at high inspection frequencies, its wear rate remains extremely low, ensuring long-term dimensional accuracy and stability.

Our tungsten carbide pin gauges are especially suitable for metal cutting, mold manufacturing, and automated inspection lines. Each gauge is precision ground and polished by Mihe engineers in a 20°C constant-temperature environment and comes with a traceable factory inspection report, making it one of the most durable inspection tools in precision manufacturing.

Applications

Metal Cutting & Machining Specifically designed for high-volume metal part production. In automatic machine tools or manual quality inspection stations, it is used for frequent bore diameter inspection without the need for repeated recalibration due to gauge wear.
Precision Mold Making Used for inspecting critical hole positions in injection molds and stamping dies. The tungsten carbide material resists friction from tool steel, ensuring long-term stability within extremely tight tolerance ranges.
Automotive Parts In high-frequency full inspection applications such as fuel systems and transmission components, tungsten carbide pin gauges can reduce overall gauge replacement costs by more than 70% compared to steel gauges, due to the large inspection volume and high measurement frequency.
Aerospace Provides stable, hard-to-hard measurement support for precision bore diameter control of high-hardness, heat-resistant alloy materials.
Medical Devices Meets the high-precision and high-repeatability measurement requirements of orthopedic implants and precision surgical instrument components.

Packaging & Shipping

Individual protection

Each gauge is independently packed in a thickened transparent plastic tube, with oil-resistant and damage-resistant specification labels applied on the tube surface.

Professional set packaging

For full-set orders, premium wooden or aluminum storage cases are provided, with precision-machined internal slots to effectively prevent contact and collision between gauges.

Secure logistics packaging

e inner layer uses high-polymer shock-absorbing material, while the outer packaging consists of a five-layer corrugated export carton, ensuring the gauges are protected from impact during international transportation.

FAQ about Tungsten Carbide Pin Gauges

If you require excellent drop resistance and high cost-effectiveness for general operating environments, tungsten carbide is the best choice. If you need anti-magnetic and anti-corrosion properties, or if your measurement environment has significant temperature fluctuations, ceramic pin gauges are the better solution. Both options offer a service life far longer than standard steel gauges.

Tungsten carbide has higher toughness than ceramic, but it can still chip under severe lateral impact. It is recommended to use a handle during operation and avoid using the gauge as a prying or striking tool.

The cost of cemented carbide raw materials and the difficulty of precision grinding are significantly higher than those of bearing steel. However, in the long run, tungsten carbide gauges offer a service life 5–10 times longer than steel gauges, reducing downtime for recalibration and frequent replacement costs. As a result, the overall cost per use is actually lower.

Yes. We have a fully equipped production line supporting custom diameters from 0.1 mm to 30 mm (e.g., 5.012 mm), while maintaining Class X accuracy and fast lead times.
